It is unclear which came first, my desire to paint or my desire to write. Certainly, I made marks on paper with crayons well before I learned to read and write. But weren't those early scribblings simply a way to communicate? If babies were born with language, perhaps we could tell if people who both write and paint did one or the other first, or preferentially.
As it happens, I don't much care which way I communicate. I let the spirit move me...and sometimes the emptiness of my bank account. But that's spirit working in its own way.
